In what fiction writers might call “foreshadowing” the Division of the Budget released a bleak mid-year update of the state’s financial condition. Which means in a very non-fictional way, the money situation that Andrew Cuomo inherits will be even worse than expected.
Today on the radio we will be speaking with Budget Director Bob Megna to discuss both the current year’s projected $315 million budget gap and next year’s estimated 9 billion dollar budget gap. It’s ugly, and thanks to increased outlays in Medicaid, it’s getting uglier.
Now that Republicans have taken the majority in the US House, one group that’s feeling pretty good about things is small business. Mike Elmendorf of the New York State chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business is going to be sharing his thoughts on what small business is hoping for from politicians on the state and federal level.
