As you know, New York is having a cash flow problem – that means several immediate things for people like us who live in the state: One, our tax refunds won’t be sent out ’til tomorrow. Two, the budget will inevitably make lawmakers unpopular with constituents during this election year, so they are delaying the negotiation in the hopes that… what, the laws of economics cease to exist? The state is allowed to begin printing money? A big shiny light over there keeps the attention of the public at bay? And three, school aid payments will be delayed, something that schools expect, have budgeted for, and won’ really affect anything. Michael Gormley of the AP will join us with political analysis. We’ll hear from Republican Assemblyman Marc Molinaro who is unhappy with the budget process. And then we ask 4 smart people the same question the Times did over the weekend: Can New York Be Saved.
