The Capitol Pressroom Program for August 11, 2010
If Andrew Cuomo is New York’s next Governor, what can we expect from his policies, his politics and his personality? Today we ask those questions of two long-time & well-respected players in state government, Columnist, professor, and activist Paul Bray and Executive Director of the Fiscal Policy Institute, Frank Mauro. And then two perspectives on one change in the law the legislature made this session — When the Governor signed the prison gerrymandering bill passed by the State Senate, there came an end to the practice of counting prison inmates in the county of their incarceration. Instead, for purposes of legislative redistricting, the inmates of upstate prisons will be counted in the counties of their residence at the time of their conviction. Upstate Senators Neil Breslin, a Democrat & Betty Little, a Republican have very different views on the issue.
